MEXICAN WAR
This section includes both the Texas Rebellion in the 1830s as well as America's war with Mexico in the 1840s. Among the war material there are several stirring battle pieces, as well as descriptions of fierce skirmishes among smaller groups, with pictorial title pages. General Zachary Taylor is the hero of some of the latter. On the Mexican side, scorn is heaped on Santa Anna, the commander, who is shown surrendering to General Sam Houston. The inequalities of the strength of the two sides are not categorized, but the music speaks for itself.
