Most of this Web site can be viewed simply through any Web browser. To be able to listen to the songs on each page requires the free Real Player G2 plugin from Real Networks.
There are a couple tricks that may make using the Web site easier and more enjoyable. The Real Player plugin will generally stop whatever song is playing if you go to a new Web page. If, however, you open that new Web page in a new window, the song will keep playing until that new window is closed. So, for instance, if you want to listen to a song while looking at its cover and musical score, simply start the song playing and then open the cover or score in a new window. While you're moving around in that new window (for instance going from page to page), the song will keep playing. Just remember to close the new window if you want to go back to where you came from.
There are also two versions of the two tables of contents. The main versions, by subject and title, include "thumbnails" of the covers of their associated songs. Since there are a number of such songs, on a slow link or with a browser without much memory, these contents could be slow to load. In these cases, you might want to use the faster contents without the pictures, by subject and title.
The Web site can also be browsed sequentially, in the order things were laid out in the original, printed guide (which was, essentially, alphabetically by subject). To browse sequentially, simply start with the first subject (Baltimore Publishers) and use the "Next page" and "Previous page" buttons.
