These songs were sung by the famous Swedish soprano when she was brought to the United States in 1850 by P. T. Barnum. Her success was unequalled and the songs were printed and reprinted, many with lithographed covers depicting Jenny Lind in costume. Filed with the songs is an issue of the Monthly Musical Review, containing musical news and gossip of 1847, which describes the substantial fees commanded by Jenny Lind for her concerts.
